The first time I traveled overseas, I got a big shock when I got back home. I’d been away for six months and when I came back, I realized that life had moved on without me. That people had survived without me, that they had solved their problems without my help. And it made me realize I had a great fear of being insignificant, which is very common for nice guys and people pleasers, and it’s something you must accept. You do not matter as much as you think you do. People don’t need you as much as you hope they do. Once you get over this, you’ll actually find some peace.
