The Real Reason You Missed Out on the Job, the Date, and the Life You Want

I was missing assertiveness. Missing boundary setting.

I’d never stood up for myself.

I never went for what I wanted.

I didn’t say what I really thought—because I was too afraid.

I didn’t have an override that kicked in and said, “Nah, fuck it, you need to say this.”
I didn’t have that “Nah, fuck it, do it.”

I didn’t have that click—the one that’s so needed in so many situations. Without it, I missed out.

I could see that I missed out.

I missed out on dates.

I missed out on job opportunities.

I missed out on stopping a bully.

I missed out on setting boundaries with people—boundaries that would’ve made the relationship a lot healthier in the long run.

I missed out on taking risks, on going for what I wanted—because I didn’t have that inner click that said, “Nah, fuck it, do it. You better fucking do it.”

That kind of inner coach. That aggressive, drill-sergeant voice that says, “Cut your bullshit. Get on with it.”

I’m not saying fear is always unhelpful, but there comes a point where fear is just doing its job—and it’s not actually helping anymore.

It’s just stopping you from doing something that’s even more beneficial—but scary.
