I have a distinct memory from my childhood of being at a party with all these adults and seeing a bowl of chocolate coated almonds sitting there and before anyone could stop me, I grabbed a big handful of them and shoved them in my mouth, only to discover that they were olives and I ended up spewing up everywhere. Now that story is only relevant because my brother thinks it happened to him. My little brother who was also there thinks he was the one who grabbed the olives and spewed them everywhere. And we will never know which of us is correct. And in fact, it’s quite possible that neither of us are. So, take your beliefs and hold them lightly because they come from an unreliable source, your brain. And you know from experiences like the one I just shared that your brain sometimes does not tell the truth and maybe is often lying to you.
