You may have noticed a weird problem coming up when you’re working on yourself, and that is you kind of just forget to do it. Maybe you set yourself a goal like I’m going to stand up for myself and have more confrontations, then after a long busy day at work, you’re like, Ah fuck! I was supposed to do that thing and there was like three opportunities and I just didn’t think of it. I’ve got a little theory about this. The hippocampus and the amygdala, the parts of the brain that control and memory, are right next to each other physically. And I’ve got a little theory that Fear can actually override memory and block it. So, if you want to work on something that requires courage and boldness do not rely on memory! Set yourself reminders or a to do list. Make sure that there’s no way you could possibly forget. Don’t trust your brain because your brain doesn’t want you to do courageous stuff, you’re going to have to manually override.
