This video is an excerpt from a recent Ask Dan Anything session in Brojo Skool.
Dan Munro advises against seeking external solutions for self-expression and childhood development goals, emphasizing the importance of self-reliance and autonomous thinking.
He argues that asking for advice too often can perpetuate a cycle of dependency. Instead, he urges the questioner to take bold, potentially “wrong” actions to foster personal growth.

How to Get Unstuck: The Bluntest Advice You’ll Ever Get
Question: “What, in your opinion, are the three to four things that could get me unstuck and move towards what I really want from life? I think what I really want is full self-expression and all the childhood development goals that I missed out on. Basically, give the most frank, blunt advice without pulling any punches.”
Let’s Get Real
You want the blunt truth? Here it is: Asking me (or anyone) for a step-by-step guide to get unstuck is exactly why you’re stuck in the first place. You’re looking for answers outside of yourself, when what you need is already within you.
You mentioned “full self-expression” and “childhood development goals” – essentially, becoming who you truly are and fulfilling the milestones you missed. Here’s the hard truth: No one can tell you how to achieve that. You’re the only one who can figure it out, and that’s the whole point of personal growth.
Stop Asking for Permission
Childhood development is all about moving from dependency to independence. It’s about learning to think and act for yourself. But right now, by asking me to tell you what to do, you’re perpetuating a dynamic where you’re dependent on someone else’s guidance. That’s not self-expression; that’s outsourcing your decision-making.
If you want to grow, you need to stop looking for permission or validation. Decide for yourself. Even if you’re unsure, even if you’re filled with self-doubt, take the plunge. Make a decision—any decision—and take responsibility for it. That’s how you grow.
Embrace the Mess
Here’s the thing about personal development: it’s messy. You’re going to get it wrong. You’re going to make mistakes. And that’s exactly what you need to do.
Think of childhood development. Kids learn by trying, failing, and trying again. That’s how they build independence and resilience. If you want to recapture those missed development goals, you need to do the same. Take risks, make a mess, and then figure out how to clean it up yourself. That’s real growth.
My Bluntest Advice
You want the bluntest advice? Here it is: Stop asking others what to do. Decide for yourself. Pick one action you think might help you get unstuck and do it. Even if it seems stupid, even if you’re not sure it’s the right move, just do it.
Why? Because the only way to truly get unstuck is to start moving. And the only way to find out what works for you is to try things, fail, learn, and keep going. No one else can do that for you.
Final Thoughts
If you take anything from this, let it be this: The path to self-expression and personal growth isn’t something anyone can map out for you. You have to create it yourself. So stop looking for external answers, trust yourself, and take action. That’s the only way you’ll truly get unstuck.
Go make a mess. It’s the only way to grow.
How you can make massive progress in just a few months!
You can do all this on your own.
Through trial and error, books, courses and online content, you can figure it out slowly piece by piece over time if you dedicate yourself to it and are willing to fail often and get uncomfortable in order to achieve social mastery and build strong self confidence.
Or…
You can work directly with me in your corner for a short period of time and achieve the same results in months that would take you YEARS on your own (or your money back!).
That’s what my confidence coaching is really all about. I accelerate your progress significantly by ensuring you:
- Overcome your fear of rejection
- Stop seeing yourself as not good enough
- Develop easy practical social communication skills while still being honest
- Unleash your masculinity to make you more assertive and attractive
- Increase your self-confidence and self-respect
- Get advanced practical tips to eliminate self-sabotage and give you the best possible chances at career advancement, dating opportunities, and deep connections with quality friends
- Help you see your blind spots and errors and develop a measurement system that you can use on your own to ensure ongoing improvement for life
It took me about 7-10 years to figure this stuff out on my own. It takes my average coaching client only about 3-6 months to achieve a level of mastery that leaves them able to continue coaching themselves to further success while feeling absolutely certain that they’re on the right path (proven by the results they get).
I’ve turned virgins into fathers.
I’ve created assertive leaders out of meek people pleasers.
I’ve released overthinkers so they become powerfully decisive.
I’ve transformed shy introverts into social connectors.
I’ve moved highly anxious and depressed guys into a world of permanent self-confidence and optimism.
