When people are trying to find their purpose, they often think about something that they’re going to become, like a goal that’s going to be achieved in the future. The problem with aiming to become something means that you’re not there yet, you’re always unsatisfied. It’s like waiting to eat a meal. You’re always going to be hungry. If you want sense of purpose and meaning now it has to be something that happens now. So, rather than thinking about becoming someone think about being someone. In more practical terms, what do you need to do right now that you’d be proud of? That gives your life meaning and purpose? Do that activity right now rather than worrying about the future.
