Embrace Discomfort: The True Meaning of Bravery

Bravery is better and more realistic than fearlessness.

You’re sitting around waiting to stop being afraid, waiting to stop feeling uncomfortable, anxious, or terrified. That’s not going to happen.

Fear is a natural human emotion that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Bravery is doing something even when you’re uncomfortable. It’s not about waiting for comfort to come first.

So focus on being brave rather than being fearless, because bravery is something you can achieve, but fearlessness is impossible.

Discomfort won’t kill you, but endless comfort will.

It may not kill your body, but it will kill your spirit. It will destroy your psychology and make your life miserable, as you try to stick to the familiar, never stepping outside your comfort zone. In fact, it’s not even that comfortable, is it?

It’s just familiar.

Discomfort comes from doing something unfamiliar, which can trigger emotions you find unpleasant. But this is almost always the path toward greatness.
